Twice a year Bromley primary school children participate in probably the biggest cross country event of its kind in the UK with more than 1200 year 3,4,5 & 6 pupils taking part. Although year 5 & 6 children have a track and field championships to look forward to in the summer there is no such competition for children in years 3 & 4, therefore, it was felt that a QuadKids event would provide an excellent opportunity for children to participate in a fun competitive event.
Due to the positive feedback from the schools who participated in the recent event the Bromley School Sports Partnership plan to hold additional events in 2011 covering school years 3-6. The Kent London McCain Athletic Network will encourage Bexley, Greenwich and Lewisham School Sports Partnerships to incorporate QuadKids competitions into their calendar of events for 2011.
These events are vital to local athletics clubs in identifying young talent. The events themselves are ideal for attracting local business sponsorship.
