On Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th May 2011, over 300 children from 20 different Bromley Primary Schools came together at Norman Park Athletics Track, Bromley to compete in the Bromley School Sport Partnerships’Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 QuadKids events. On Monday Year 3/4 pupils took part in a 50m sprint, a standing long jump, a mini vortex howler throw and 400m run and on Tuesday the Year 5/6 pupils competed in the 75m sprint, 600m run, standing long jump and the mega vortex howler throw. Pupils gained points for the distance or time they achieved which were then added together to give a team score. At the end of the individual events the children took part in a fun shuttle relay while the results were compiled.
On Wednesday 14th July, Kelsey Park Sports College in Beckenham, Kent hosted the inaugural QuadKids event for London Borough of Bromley Year 3 & 4 pupils. The event was jointly organised by Bromley School Sports Partnership and 365 Athletics Academy, the Kent London McCain Athletic Network’s co-ordinator. 120 pupils from 15 local primary schools were given the opportunity to participate in 4 individual events: 50m Sprint, 400m Run, Mini Vortex Howler Throw & Standing Long Jump plus a relay involving all the children. Each participant gained points based on their performance which contributed to their team’s total. Young Sports Leaders from Kelsey Park Sports College, Hayes and Langley Park School for Boys, supported by SSCO’s, assisted in the smooth running of the event by recording the result on a laptop PC and by being excellent event officials and time keepers. The event was endorsed by the Kent London McCain Athletics Network and representatives from Beckenham Running Club, Bexley AC and Blackheath & Bromley Harriers AC attended the event. Elspeth Turner from England Athletics was also present & very kindly donated running tops to the top 5 individual boys & girls.
The Kent London McCain Athletics Network had their official launch last weekend at the Kent County Championships at Ashford. Mike Summers, CEO of England Athletics, was on hand to present a cheque for £80,000 to fund projects over the next three years. The funding is part of a £5 million sponsorship package from McCain who have partnered with England Athletics with the goal of finding and nurturing future champions whilst at the same time raising the profile of athletics and inspiring families to become more involved in the sport.The Network was formed last month and is seen as an important partnership between England Athletics and four local clubs: Beckenham Running Club; Bexley AC; Blackheath & Bromley Harriers AC and Cambridge Harriers AC. The Network aims to grow and sustain participation levels in athletics, increase the number of volunteers involved in the sport, improve the quality of experience for all participants and at the same time raise the standard of coaching and performance levels of athletes.
365 Athletics Academy are pleased to announce that a new section will be added to the Bees Academy to cater for children in the age range 5 to 8 years of age. This new section will be known as the "Mini Bees".
365 Athletics Academy is pleased to announce that the Bees Academy "off the track" Cross Country Club Saturday sessions at Norman Park will now continue without a break until the 6th March 2010. This is the week before the Bromley Primary Schools Cross Country at Crystal Palace.
