They are being held on Saturday 4th April (school years 4 - 7 inclusive), and Good Friday 10th April (school years 6 - 11 inclusive). What that means is Bees Academy children in school years 6 and 7 have two opportunities, whereas children in school years 4 and 5 are able to take part in track & field competition probably for the first time.

The London South Under 13 Sportshall team - virtually all Bees Academy athletes - won the London Region Sportshall final held in Newham on Saturday 21st February. They will now go on to represent London in the National final being held on March 22nd in Birmingham.
At the same match, the Under 15 girls also won their section and also go on to the National final.
Good luck to one and all!
The Lee Valley Athletics Centre in North London are putting on a Minithon on 29th March that may be of interest to Bees athletes. In particular the competition is open to young athletes from age 8 - 13 years of age. There will be three age-groups so youngsters will not be competing against children who are much older than themselves.
If still an athlete in the Bees Academy scheme, when completing the form, please enter Blackheath & Bromley Harriers AC as the club.

The London Borough of Bromley Trials for the Adidas Mini London Marathon will be taking place on Sunday 1st March 2009 at Norman Park Athletics Track.
This event as usual, will be run on the morning of the London Marathon, over approximately the last 5km of the course, finishing in The Mall.
Bromley has a remarkable record in the Mini Marathon, usually finishing in the top four.
The current sponsors of the Mini Marathon, 'Adidas', are keen to ensure that the event retains it's charitable reputation; this year we, in Bromley, are encouraging participants to obtain sponsorship money to help with the provision of good competitive opportunities for Bromley's young disabled and/or disadvantaged athletes.
As in previous years the London Boroughs and additional selected guest counties throughout the United Kingdom will be participating.
Teams will consist of 8 runners, girls and boys, in three age groups with only the London Borough teams scoring in the overall competition.
An opportunity has arisen whereby children in school year 7 can try out for the South London Sportshall team to compete at a regional competition being held on 21st February in Newham.
The Sportshall Trials are being held at Kelsey Park Sports College in Beckenham on Thursday 5th February 2009 from 4pm to 6pm, although it would be prudent to arrive somewhat earlier than that in order to warm up. If your child would like to compete then please print off the form (attached here) urgently and give or send to John Blackie.
There is a cross-country race coming up on Saturday 20th September at Sparrows Den, West Wickham. In essence this is a cross-country relay race, but there will be a special race (not a relay) for Under 11 children of just over one mile in distance around the fields at Sparrows Den - not going into the woods. This Under 11 race starts at 1.30pm with registration and allocation of numbers in the start area at Sparrows Den from 12.30.For Under 13 athletes the race is a 3 person relay with each runner racing a 3k course across the fields and through the woods. The teams must be pre-entered by 15th September so does not give us much time. The definition of an Under 13 and an Under 11 is a bit more complicated than for Track and Field (which is quite simple). For Cross Country, an Under 13 is someone in school years 7 or 8 (and some year 6), being 11 on the day of competition or being 12 on the previous 31st August. An Under 11 is anything younger. If anyone is in any doubt please contact John Blackie for help. If any Under 13 child wishes to take part and does not have a team to compete in, also please contact John Blackie so that teams can be put together. If you do have three athletes to make up a team then you can enter using this (Word) form.
