25 intrepid athletes and their parents made their tortuous way to the White Oak Leisure Centre, Swanley yesterday 13th March for the final round of the Kent County Athletic Association's Sportshall Competition. The journey was made tortuous by the number of traffic hold-ups on route. A normally 30 minute journey was taking 1 hour. Never-the-less everyone finally arrived before the allotted start time of 2.00pm and the youngsters were primed ready for action.

LIMITED ENTRIES ON THE DAY
Dear Parent,
I would like to invite your son/daughter to represent the Bees Academy at the next Kent County Athletics Association's Sportshall Athletics event which will provide for some exciting and fun filled athletics competition. If you haven't previously attended Sportshall athletics events they offer a mix of skills, awards and competition that appeals to most children.
Despite the inclement weather over 100 young athletes turned out for the Bees Academy Cross Country Challenge held at Norman Park on Saturday 19th February. The standard of racing was extremely encouraging with some very good results coming to the fore. The mud and gunge did very little to disuade the youngsters from enjoying this opportunity to prepare for the upcoming Bromley Primary Schools cross country at Crystal Palace in March.
The Virgin Mini Marathon 2011 will be taking place on Sunday 17th April 2011. Bromley will be selecting their squad to represent the borough for on Sunday 6th March 2011.
Bromley has a very good record in the London Mini Marathon finishing in the top 3 for the last three years, mainly thanks to the involvement of Blackheath & Bromley Harriers AC who run the trials and help team manage the event itself.
Entry application forms can be downloaded on the link below. Please read the eligibility criteria carefully.

The Kent County Sportshall Championships will be taking place at The Angel Centre, Tonbridge on Sunday 5th December. We would like to get as many Bees Academy youngsters along to this event as is possible. For those who have not done Sportshall before, it is an athletics competition that takes place in a large Sports Hall - the weather therefore is not an issue. The floors are normally wooden or a compound that is not suitable for spiked shoes - please do not have your child in spikes otherwise he/she will not be able to compete.
A small number of Bees Academy athletes took part in the Kent County Sportshall event at Tunbridge Wells on Sunday 3rd October. It may have been very wet and chilly outside, but it was hot stuff inside. Unfortunately due to a computer glitch the organisers were not able to give us the final results on the day, but to be honest we were not looking for final positions, but more giving the youngsters some experience of competition and performing under a bit of pressure.
Here are the results of the Under 11 Race held at Sparrows Den on Saturday 18th September. Although not specifically for Bees Academy athletes there were a high proportion participating.
This year Blackheath & Bromley did not make it to the main final of this league, narrowly being squeezed out, but they did make it to the Auxiliary final. This final was held on Saturday 4th September in Manchester and the club won fairly convincingly. What might be of interest to you as parents and guardians of young Bees Academy children is that a large number of the athletes participating in this final were either existing Bees athletes or were previous attendees of the Bees Academy.
