The inaugural Christmas Quadkids competition between the Bees Academy and Bexley Tigers was held on Sunday 16th December over at the Erith Stadium. Despite the time of year the weather held up and in fact was quite sunny at times. The Bees Academy had 29 young athletes taking part in what turned out to be a great competition in the two age groups, i.e. school years 3 & 4, and school years 5 & 6. In both age-groups, despite having a lesser number of athletes competing, the Bees Academy ran out winners quite comfortably. The Bees Academy boys and girls from both age-groups also posted such good results that they also took most of the individual medals.

On the morning of Sunday 16th December between 10:00am and 12:00pm, the Bees Academy will be fielding 2 teams of athletes, in the age range school year 3 to school year 6 inclusive, at a Christmas Quadkids event. The event will be taking place at Erith Stadium, in Erith, and will be a match against Bexley Tigers and Cambridge Harriers Academy.
For this match we can take teams of almost any size as it will be scored on the basis of the top "n" scorers, where "n" may be 12 or higher - could even be lower! So it means everyone present will be able to take part in the competition on an individual basis, as well as on a team basis if they are one of the top scorers.
Here are the results from the Bromley Primary Schools XC November 2012 (all in pdf format):

Despite struggling to find enough boys to make up a team due to a combination of reason such as a local rugby festival, football matches, scouting, church and family commitments the four boys who did compete together with the five girls who were chosen to represent The Bees Academy last Sunday at the London QuadKids Under 11's Team Championships performed brilliantly to end the day as runners up. Had we had a full compliment of boys I am sure that we would have won the event.

Olympic marathon star is grilled by Bees Academy members
Bees Academy members and parents totalling nearly fifty turned up at Blackheath & Bromley Harriers AC's clubhouse in Hayes last week for a BBQ and to have the opportunity to meet Scott Overall who will be representing Great Britain & Northern Ireland on Sunday 12th August in the Olympic Marathon. Despite his busy schedule, Scott honoured a commitment he made earlier in the year to meet Bees Academy and Blackheath & Bromley members before flying off to Portugal to meet up with Adam Gemili, Blackheath & Bromley's other Olympian, and the rest of the GB track and field team in order to complete their final preparation ahead of the games.
