Athlete Development

Athletics is a late specialisation sport and so quite often it is not until a child is 14 or 15 years of age can it be said with any real confidence that he or she should specialise in one event or another (although we can express an educated guess well before that in most cases). With that in mind we ensure children in the Bees Academy get a broad exposure and experience in athletics. The following diagram illustrates how the Bees Academy currently fits into the Blackheath & Bromley model for long term athlete development.

The track will close to be relaid on from Monday 12th August 2019. If it doesn't rain and all goes well we will back on the new track in late September to early October. During this time we will only have Off Track sessions on Saturday mornings for those in school year 3 and above.
